Newsgroups

Newsgroups are open to anyone and everyone. They grew out of the original disaffected student/researcher/teacher culture when the net was young. Often people who post in newsgroups use pseudonyms, without giving away their real identities for many reasons - these days it's mostly for self protection. We still have a remnant of the old guard with us on the newsgroups and it can be a bit of a shock to enter that cyberspace - I think that some posters still don't understand that the other people there are real 5-dimentional beings with blood, spirit and hearts.

They are available through dejanews and through your local isp - the latter being recommended. When you access them through a reasonable newsreader you will have a filter built in so that some members can become invisible at the touch of a button!

alt.healing.reiki

This is one of the better behaved newsgroups on the net. The discussions can get a bit heated and I have been on the receiving end of various flames from many directions. Not for the faint hearted, though as I write, peace reigns most of the time. A must for all Reiki people.

alt.chinese.fengshui

This is a perfect example of the old time newsgroups - if you practice the more intuitive forms of Feng Shui it can be interesting to lurk but I wouldn't recommend posting unless you have a set of asbestos underwear.

That said, there are often very interesting threads and it's worth a frequent look.

sff.people.reikihaven

Set up in the days of Reikiteach, Reikihaven is sadly no longer with us. A moderated newsgroup, it was truly a haven of peace, biased towards the traditional but where all were expected to respect the beliefs of others. The wisdom gathered here will be sadly missed.
