Coerdelion Newsletter

January 2002

Hello

In the UK the post office is about to be deregulated. This means that the post office will no longer have a monopoly on collecting, sorting and delivering letters. There will be competition. The post office has decided that it must become more efficient. To this end, it has changed its name to Consignia. It is also proposing to collect and deliver fewer letters so that its customers will have a better service. Really. I am not making this up.

The Pope this month has declared that divorce is one of the great evils of society and that Catholic lawyers should not take on divorce work. Never mind that the Church is, apparently, filled to bursting with poedophiles, that lawyers defend people they know are guilty of the most henious crimes in order to allow them the freedom to go out and commit the same crimes again, it is *divorce* that is the great evil.

This month, too, our Lord Chief Justice (the head Judge) stated that those who steal mobile phones should all serve a prison sentence. He sentenced the theif before him to 4 years in prison. On the same day, a man who abducted and raped a 6 year old was also sentenced to 4 years and told he would serve at least 2.

Sometimes I wonder if it's me. It seems insane to me that the theft of one mobile phone is seen as equal to rape. That the Pope considers divorce to be a great evil, when there is so much else going on in the world seems utterly crazy. That a company whose job it is to collect, sort and deliver letters should, in the interests of an efficient service to customers, propose to collect, sort and deliver fewer letters is ust plain weird.

This newsletter presently goes out to just under 200 people every month. It's a Reiki newsletter. I do my best to provide entertainment as well as thought provoking content, but basically it's my thoughts shared with you as Reiki people.

Back in September, I wrote an article which I fully expected to provoke large numbers of unsubscriptions. It didn't. Couple of months ago I asked for Reiki for my teacher's husband. *That* did it. Quite a large number unsubscribed after being asked to send Reiki to one person. Last year I mentioned the helplist (url under my sig) and suggested that this would be a method to share Reiki and do some real good in the world. Two people signed up as a result of that.

When people ask me for Second Degree, my first question is "do you self treat?" The second is "do you use Reiki in your life at all?" If the answer is "no" to either or both of those questions, I politely suggest they look elsewhere. The way I see it is that there really isn't any point in taking a class if one isn't going to use what one has learned there.

Last time I asked you to tell me what the last year had brought you that you were grateful for. The total feedback on that was a grand total of one. One. Is there really only one person who subscribes to this newsletter who has something to be grateful for? Even after Reiki? In that case, why are you doing Reiki? And why are you subscribed to this newsletter?

Mrs Takata said "Reiki will make you healthy, wealthy and happy. It will make you healthy so that you will never have to have another day off work because of sickness. If you work hard you will be wealthy. And if you are healthy and wealthy, you can't help but be happy." The bit she didn't actually say, but took as a given, is that you have to actually use it. Every day. The first Master she made was John Grey. When she announced the fact of it she said that this was because from his very first class he had used Reiki on himself or someone else every single day.

And yet, 20 years after that announcement, when I tell people that I do Reiki every single day often they are amazed.

Why did you take Reiki in the first place? Did you think it was a magic wand? Did you think that having taken it, then all you had to do was sit back and let it work? The Christians say: Faith without works is nothing. The Buddhists say: Right being, right thinking, right *action*. Martial artists train every day. Governments make laws but it is only in their *execution* that their effectiveness can be seen. In physics, the quantum leap can only be measured in its effects.

Reiki is not an intellectual exercise. Being Reiki is all very well, but it is only in *doing* that the effects of Reiki can be seen.

Do Reiki for yourself every day and in doing that the madness around you will be healed. Do Reiki both for yourself and for those who ask and in doing that the true meaning and purpose of your life will be revealed.
